Friends Academy to host documentary showing

Oct 21, 2016

On November 3 at 6:30 pm, Friends Academy, located at 1088 Tucker Road in North Dartmouth, MA, will host Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age, an award-winning documentary by Dr. Delaney Ruston that explores her own personal experiences as a parent and the impact that social media, internet addiction, video games have on children and family. It is free and open to the public.

The average child spends about 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. In Screenagers, Dr. Ruston wonders how tech time impacts kids’ development. She offers solutions on how parents and teachers can empower and guide kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance in their lives.

Parents are encouraged to bring their middle school and high school students. After the hour-long film, small groups will meet to discuss the film and its takeaways. Arrive at 6 p.m. if you would like a tour of the school.
