District No. 1 firefighters responded to a garage fire on Hillside Street on April 15.

According to officials, they found the garage at 7 Hillside Street fully engulfed, and already starting to collapse. Firefighters attacked the fire from the outside, due to its severity, officials said.

The barn stored bicycles, golf clubs, snowmobiles, and furniture for the occupants’ house while it was being renovated, said Chief Brad Ellis. All of it was lost in the fire, he said.

“You could see [the fire] across the bay,” he said.

Ellis believes the fire started from an electrical issue. He said firefighters struggled to fully extinguish the fire due to the structure’s collapse.

No injuries were reported.
