The Dartmouth Cultural Council is sponsoring a kite workshop Saturday, Aug. 28 on Apponagansett Beach.

The day begins at 10 a.m. with a presentation on the history of kites. After that, participants will make their own kites.

From noon to 1 p.m., along with a bring-your-own lunch, participants will fly their kites over the harbor under the direction of kite expert Gary Engvall.

The day ends at 3  p.m. when the kites are reeled in.

The event is appropriate for ages 5 to 12.

The class is limited to 20 students and is sponsored by Big Value Outlet.
