Hazardous Waste Day is Oct. 1

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Crapo Hill Landfill, 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard, New Bedford.

Sign up is required. To register, visit gnbrrmdistrict.org and select a time slot or call (508) 979-1493. 

All types of household hazardous wastes will be accepted including oil-based paints, paint thinner and waste fuels. Materials must be placed in your vehicle’s trunk, truck bed, or back of SUV. Participants must remain in their vehicles.

Items such as motor oil, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, and propane tanks should be taken to the Dartmouth Transfer Station located at 976 Russells Mills Road.

The maximum amount of household hazardous waste you can bring is 25 gallons or 25 pounds. Proof of residency is required. Households only; no businesses, schools, or contractors.
