Here's what the Council on Aging has planned for May
It’s gonna be May, and the Dartmouth Council on Aging will be hosting a full schedule of virtual and socially distanced events/activities as the center reopens for in-person programming. Here’s what’s coming up next month.
Council on Aging newsletter

Diving Decision Workshop
Topics include reporting procedures, relicensing requirements, liability, disability plates and placards and the importance of obtaining Massachusetts ID card when retiring from driving. Functional impairment and the effects of medications are also discussed.
Attendees will be able to identify the warning signs of unsafe driving, understand RMV policies and procedures, and learn the best practices to use when talking to older drivers about their driving.
The workshop will be held via zoom on May 12 at 10 a.m. To register, contact Nancy at the center at (508) 999-4717.
Music on the Lawn
Join musician Chris Waters on May 26 for the first of many outdoor concerts the COA plans to host this spring/summer. The concert will start at 1 p.m., attendees are asked to bring their own chairs.
Tickets will be on sale one day only on Friday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $5.
In person widow and widower support group
Sessions will be held every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The first meeting of the year will be held on May 10 at 1 p.m. Future meetings will be held the second Tuesday of every month. Book to be determined after the first meeting.
The group will meet indoors, or outdoors if the weather permits.
French conversation and culture Wednesdays
Parlez-vous français? Well starting this month, the COA will be hosting weekly classes on all things French. The first session will be held May 19 at 10 a.m.

For other legal advice, the COA will host consultations with elder law attorney Brandon Walecka on May 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.
The COA also recommends reaching out to the Justice Bridge Legal Center, a UMass Law affiliate that can be reached by calling (508) 449-9296 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Justice Bridge will also hold a clinic on May 26 from 2 to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call the center.
Zoom Room at the Center
Start your Tuesday with coffee and a virtual smile with your friends at the COA. Online meetings are held every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
