Housing authority seeks resident applications, board members

Mar 23, 2017

After opening the O’Connor-Sisson House for Veterans in October, the Dartmouth Housing Authority is accepting applications for its waiting list.

The housing authority manages three properties, the veterans housing, Sol-E-Mar, and Munroe Terrace. The waiting lists for all three are open and applications can be obtained at the management office, located at 2 Anderson Way, or online at dartmouthhousingauthority.org.

The Authority also hosts a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program through which 197 portable vouchers are administered. The waiting list is part of the state-centralized list. Pre-applications can be obtained at the management office, or apply online at section8listmass.org.

Additionally, the Dartmouth Housing Authority expects three vacancies on its five-seat Board of Commissioners, due to several pending resignations. These positions include State Appointee and Tenant Board member.

Applicants must be Dartmouth residents, and must be available for monthly meetings. Meetings are currently on Monday at 2 p.m.; this is subject to change to accommodate potential members.

Interested persons can submit a letter of interest, complete with background information, to the attention of Executive Director Connie Desbiens by April 15. Following this process, the housing authority and Select Board will appoint persons to fill the vacancies.

The mission of the Dartmouth Housing Authority is to provide safe and sanitary affordable housing to veterans, elderly, and disabled. Contact the housing authority at (508) 994-1424 with any further questions.
