Is it mind control? Dangerous or just plain fun? Can a hypnotist really make a person act like a chicken? Hypnosis is many things, and now it’s time to find out what’s true.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will host local hypnotist John Barboza for an introduction to hypnosis presentation. The event begins at 6 p.m. in the Haskell auditorium at the Southworth Library, located at 732 Dartmouth Street.

Barboza is a board-certified consulting hypnotist who helps people with ordinary, everyday problems, including nail biting and stress eating. He is also an instructor and certifies students to become professional hypnotists.

The program will include a demonstration of the hypnosis process. Audience members will also learn about the practice and benefits of hypnosis, as well as myths and misconceptions.
