Jan 28, 2020

In advance of the presidential primary on Tuesday, March 3, the Dartmouth Town Clerk’s Office is reminding residents of several important election-related deadlines and voting schedules.

Voter registration deadline

The last day to register to vote in the presidential primary is Wednesday, February 12. Those who need to register to vote, or need to make changes to voter registration such as name, party, and address, can do so at the Town Clerk’s office in person during normal office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The office will be open for extended hours on February 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate last-minute changes. Residents can also register online at sec.state.ma.us.

Absentee ballots

Residents of Dartmouth who are unable to make it to the polling location on Election Day due to an absence from Dartmouth, disability, or religious belief may vote absentee instead. Absentee ballots are now available. Residents can either vote in person at the Town Clerk’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, or request a ballot by sending a note to the office.

The written request must include the person’s name, signature, legal voting address in Dartmouth, date of birth, which party ballot is being requested for those unenrolled, where to mail a ballot, and a contact number or email address.

Early voting

The presidential primary will include the option to vote early. Early voting will take place at Dartmouth Town Hall, 400 Slocum Rd., from February 24 to February 28. Early voting hours are still pending, and will be announced soon on the town’s website, town.dartmouth.ma.us.

For any questions or more information about voting, contact the Town Clerk’s Office at (508) 910-1800 or visit the town website at town.dartmouth.ma.us.
