The Dartmouth Cultural Center would like to introduce itself to those who many not be familiar with it and invites the community to stop in during the Padanaram Summer Festival.

During the festival on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. the center will hold an open house, featuring outdoor rock and shell paining for children and an opportunity to meet the Laundry Monster and view his book.

The center is located at 404 Elm Street in South Dartmouth, formerly, the Olde Southworth Public Library building, built in 1889.  Designed by Robert H. Slack, it was gifted to the town by John Haywood Southworth and is an example of Richardson Romanesque architecture — it is registered in the State and National Registry of Historic Buildings.

While at the open house, visitors are encouraged to check out the latest gallery exhibit, which is the “What’s your Jam” Member-Guest Invitational show on display until August, as well as learn more about happens and how to support this all-volunteer organization.
