Jose J. Rego, 80, of South Dartmouth, passed away on June 17, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his family by his side. He was a loving husband of the late Margarida (Carvalho) Rego and the son of the late Silvana (Amaral) and Jose M. Rego.

Rego was born in St. Michael, Azores, and after moving to this country in 1968, he worked as a machine operator at Lambeth Rope until his retirement.

His family includes his three children, Paul Rego and his wife Adeline of Dartmouth, MA, Joseph Rego and his wife Denise of Acushnet, MA, and Sandra Sousa and her husband Manuel of Dartmouth, MA; four grandchildren, Vanessa West, Stephanie Burek, Joshua Rego, and Raquel Sousa; four great-grandchildren, Chloe West, Savannah Rego, Noah Burek, and Joshua Rego Jr.; one sister, Julieta Rego, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held on June 21. Burial was in South Dartmouth Cemetery.

Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
