Joseph Albert Normand Audette, 92

Joseph Albert Normand Audette, 92, of Dartmouth passed away Thursday December 26, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of the late Jeanette (Rodrigues) Audette. 
 
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Albert L. and Antoinette (Godbout) Audette, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He and his late wife also wintered in Largo, Florida in their retirement.
 
Joseph was formerly employed as a superintendent/bricklayer for the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 3 for many years.  In his younger days, he was a barber in the West End of New Bedford.
 
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard.  He was an avid sailor who enjoyed going sailing with his best friend Patrick McCarthy.
 
He is survived by his children, Michael N. Audette and his companion Melanie, Suzanne M.A.Valois and her husband Roland, Christopher J. Audette and his companion Rachel, and Valerie J. Williams and her husband Jay; his grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Christopher, Elise, Adam, Nicole, Morgan, Austin, Rylee, Jay, Caite, Erin, and Katie; his great-grandchildren, Camille, Henry, Brooks, Colton, and Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.
 
He was predeceased by his grandson, Alec Audette, and his siblings, Jean Paul Audette, Gerald Audette, Bernard Audette, and Marcelle Chartier.
 
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 30th at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth.  Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday 9-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford, 166 Jenney St., New Bedford, MA 02740.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
