Stephen Gaspar, 74
Stephen Gaspar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, friend and coach, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the age of 74.
Born on November 10, 1950 in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Abel and Agnes (Barboza) Gaspar. Steve dedicated his life to his family, his students, and the game he loved. He spent his career as a teacher and an outstanding basketball coach, where he not only taught lessons on the court and in the classroom but also instilled values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. His players and students remember him as someone who believed in them, pushed them to reach their potential, and left a lasting impact on their lives.
At home, Steve was the heart of his family. He was a devoted husband to Kathy, his wife and partner in life, and a proud father to his four children-Jennifer, Jessica, Timothy, and Sara. Nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his eight grandchildren, (Erin, Nicholas, Jordan, Lillian, Bennett, Landon, Kennedy, Weston) who were his biggest fans and his greatest pride. His humor, encouragement, and love will forever be cherished by those who knew him best.
Steve's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched-through his family, his friends, his students, and his players. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit, wisdom, and example will continue to guide and inspire.
