Kids have screaming fun at YMCA Spooktacular

Ghouls and goblins of all ages made the trek out to the Dartmouth YMCA Spooktacular Family Night. On Friday, Oct.16 and Saturday, Oct. 17, families could enjoy tractor hayrides through darkened fields and haunted, torch-lit trails where monsters jumped out of the dark.

The YMCA pulled out all the stops and even had a hearse parked out front where terrifying, chainsaw-wielding characters would replenish their stocks of rusty power tools and tool belts of terror.

Kids who weren’t so keen on being spooked the whole night could enjoy the outdoor dance party, laser tag and painting their own pumpkins.

Kobi Polisky and Mariah Pillsbury were too busy scaring others to be scared themselves. The two, wearing masks and toting scythes, danced the night away at the DJ’s dance-off.

On Saturday evening, young costume-clad kids were treated to a trick-or-treat trail.

Gianna Almeida and her mom, Jennifer, donned their witch hats to enjoy the night.

“We love Halloween. We love the haunted stuff. But then when we get there, we get scared,” Jennifer lamented.

Gianna was having a blast, undeterred by the frightening characters on the haunted trail.

Though she was excited about her Rapunzel costume for Halloween night, she was very emphatic about her favorite thing about Halloween: “Chocolate!”
