Leonela Avila, 88
Leonela Silveira Avila, 88, passed away at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth on April 5, 2017.
She was the wife of the late Joao Pereira Avila and the daughter of the late Leonel Lourenco Avila and Rosa Joaquina da Silveira Avila.
Avila was born in Pico, Azores, and immigrated to the United States in 1963. She worked for Colonial Textile in New Bedford as a stitcher. She enjoyed crocheting and reading the Bible.
She is survived by her son, Joel Silveira Avila and his wife Susan, of Dartmouth; grandchildren Jason Avila and wife Rebecca of East Freetown and Jennifer Avila and Melisa Avila of North Carolina; great grandchildren Ben Avila and Leo Avila; siblings Helena Furtado, Maria Mendonca and Manuel Avila and wife Carmina, all of The Azores; Capitolina Pacheco and husband, Leonel of Dartmouth; Cecilia Ferreira of New Bedford, Edna Alves and husband, Antonio, of New Bedford and Lionel Avila and wife, Sylvia of Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place in the funeral home on April 15 from 9-11 a.m. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St New Bedford, MA 02740
