Lloyd Center shorebird migration stroll

The Lloyd Center for the environment will be hosting a Shorebird Migration Stroll on Saturday, July 20 from 7 to 9 a.m. at Gooseberry Island, leaving from Demarest Lloyd State Park on 101 Barneys Joy Road.

Enjoy a morning walk with the Lloyd Center on this very unique island, both a breeding site for endangered shorebirds and a significant stopover site for other various migrant shorebird species.

In some years large numbers of offshore (pelagic) dwellers such as shearwaters have passed through. Mammals such as a wandering deer or grey seal swimming near shore are also possible sightings.In case of inclement weather, the walk will take place on Sunday, July 21.

Pre-register by 3 p.m. Friday, July 19. Spaces limited to 20.

Cost: $8 for Lloyd Center members, $10 for non-members, children under 12 half price.
