Local authors to speak at the Southworth Library

Hear from two local authors at upcoming talks hosted by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on November 8 and 15.

On November 8 at 1 p.m., Mai Donohue will discuss her book Crossing The Bamboo Bridge -- Memoirs of a Bad Luck Girl. The book tells the story of how Mai realized the American Dream against all odds. She grew up in Vietnam at the height of the Vietnam War, and moved to America in 1970 with her husband Brian. She is an author, chef, teacher, and motivational speaker.

On November 15 at 6:30 p.m., Anna Whitcomb will speak about the recently published book Riverrock: A New England Family Saga. It explores the complex relationships of a wealthy New England family, spanning several decades and incorporating historical and psychological subjects.

Anna is the author’s daughter, and edited the book, which took nearly 40 years to write. She will highlight the

journey of writing, editing, and publishing her mother’s story, including the many twists and turns and surprises on how this book came into being.  

She is a graduate of UVM and holds graduate degrees in counseling and public administration from Suffolk University.  She currently lives in Dartmouth and Cambridge, MA.

These events are free and open to the public, and will be held at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth St. Events are handicap accessible.
