Lucille R. Nelson, 81

Lucille “Bobbie” R. (Silva) Nelson, aged 81, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Ralph Nelson, and together they shared 58 beautiful years of marriage.

Born on January 25, 1942, in Wareham to the late Louis and Catherine (Youngson) Silva, Lucy spent 21 cherished years in Marion before making Dartmouth her home for the past 58 years. Lucy graduated from Wareham High School in 1960 and later worked at McClellan Department Store in Wareham, where fate brought her and Ralph together, leading to a lifetime of love and companionship. Her compassionate nature shone through as she dedicated over 30 years to assisting with concession stands at baseball and basketball tournaments for the Dartmouth Youth Activities Association. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family as well as her special lunches with close friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses at St. Luke’s and the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for their unwavering professionalism, compassion, and kindness. Lucille will always be treasured in the hearts of her loved ones as a remarkable wife, an exceptional mother and an extraordinary grandmother. Her legacy lives on through her cherished children, Deborah Perry and her husband, Christopher of Westport, and Donald Nelson and his wife, Samantha of Rockville, MD, along with her grandchildren, Nicholas Oliveira and Megan Perry of Westport, Cole Nelson, Owen Nelson, and Avery Nelson of Rockville, MD. She was also the adored grandmother of the late Quinn Nelson. She also leaves behind a sister, Nancy Silva in Marion, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Patricia Mellody and the late Richard Silva.

A funeral service in her honor will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by burial at South Dartmouth Cemetery, Elm St., Dartmouth. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lucille & Quinn Nelson can be made to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, 848 Adams Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
