An 80-year-old man was killed in Dartmouth Friday, Oct. 1 after being trapped under heavy machinery on his property, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office reported.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the man, Leslie Dewars, unresponsive underneath a skid steer loader at his property at Pardon Hill Road.

Investigators reported that Mr. Dewars had jacked the machine above the ground to make repairs when it slid on to him, the district attorney’s office reported. His wife called 911 Friday afternoon after finding her husband unresponsive under the machine.

The skid steer was moved off the victim by Dartmouth Fire Department officials.  Mr. Dewars was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident at 3:40 p.m., the district attorney’s office reported.

No foul play is suspected.
