MassAudubon walk doubles as wildlife excursion

A group of six turned out for MassAudubon's six-mile, post-Thanksgiving day walk on November 25.

The hike started at the field station at 786 East Horseneck Road, and stretched along the extended beach loop and Quansett Trail.

"Trails were clear and wet, but enjoyable," said event organizer Jen Costa, adding that the walk doubled as a wildlife excursion.

"We saw signs of our vibrant otter family along the Fresh Pond Loop, some gulls, winter shorebirds and ducks, and a gorgeous loon along the beach trail," she said.

Participants also observed holly, cedar, white pine, and winter berries throughout the woodland trails, said Costa.
