Memorial Stadium parking lot design approved
Parking at the newly refurbished Memorial Stadium will be a little easier, as the Planning Board cleared the way for construction of a new parking lot at the Slocum Road site.
At its January 13 meeting, the board approved the design and plan for a 65-space parking lot. It will be located behind the stadium, and will be accessed via the Town Hall parking lot.
The $220,000 expense for the project was approved at the 2019 Spring Town Meeting.
It was proposed amid the tight parking situation in and around the stadium, especially during major football games and other activities.
The construction of the new parking lot will tie into a broader project to address parking at Town Hall and around the stadium, with other components which are still in the works.
In other Planning Board business, the developers of a new Dunkin’ on Faunce Corner Road requested a continuance on their site plan review to January 27.
The Dunkin' would be located at 479 Faunce Corner Road in a development where two office buildings and a marijuana dispensary are also planned.
The other buildings were approved at a past meeting, but Planning Board members raised concerns that the design of the Dunkin’ layout looked like it could house a drive-thru, which is prohibited by town by-laws.
