New Bedford Symphony Orchestra presents a Chamber Music Series

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra’s Chamber Music Series is presenting a series of concerts at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 351 Elm Street. Tickets cost $20 at the door or online at www.nbsymphony.org.

On November 11 at 4 p.m., the group will perform two works they’re calling “The Heart of Schubert.” Acclaimed tenor Frank Kelley will sing Die Schöne Müllerin, followed by Schubert’s last string quartet (“Death and the Maiden”). This concert will feature Piotr Buczek and Julia Cash playing violin, Don Krishnaswami on viola, Timothy Roberts on cello, and Janice Weber playing piano.

On January 27 at 4 p.m., experience “La Grande Boucle,” a concert tour through France. The group will perform Claude Debussy’s String Quartet, Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane, Francis Poulenc’s The Story of Babar, the Little Elephant, and Louis Vierne’s Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 42. This concert will be performed by Jesse Holstein and EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks on violin, Anna Griffis on viola, Leo Eguchi on cello and Janice Weber on piano.

On March 24 at 4 p.m., the group will perform “Purple Passions,” including Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 17 by Clara Schumann, String Quartet No. 4 in E Minor by George Chadwick, and Piano Quintet in F MInor by César Franck. This concert will feature Piotr Buczek and Megumi Stohs on violin, Don Krishnaswami on viola, Timothy Roberts on cello, and Janice Weber on piano.

On May 19 at 4 p.m., the Chamber Music Series presents “Incandescence,” including Kol Nidrei, Op. 47 by Max Bruch, Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major, K.414 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola (Duo No. 1), H.313 by Bohuslav Martinů, and String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 77 by Antonín Dvořák. This concert will be performed by Jesse Holstein and EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks on violin, Anna Griffis on viola, Leo Eguchi on cello, Reginald Lamb on bass, and Janice Weber on piano.
