The Old Country Buffet restaurant, located at 424 State Road, has closed.

The closure of the Dartmouth location, which opened in 1993, follows a broader round of closures nationwide for company owner Buffets LLC, which owns Old Country Buffet, Fire Mountain Buffet and several other all-you-can-eat restaurants.

The Texas-based company has closed down more than 150 locations in the past month in an attempt to restructure the business. This is the third time Buffets LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company sought bankruptcy protection in 2008 and 2012.

Assets at the Dartmouth location went up for auction, along with a long list of other locations, on Auction Nation this week. The auction was open to the general public. Bidding ended on the evening of March 9.

Dartmouth’s Old Country Buffet made headlines a decade ago when Ryan Jones, a dishwasher, was convicted of beating a female manager with a lead pipe before fatally stabbing her. Jones’ legal team was unsuccessful in arguing an insanity plea, and he was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in Oct. 2010.
