One person was arrested and faces several charges in an alleged shoplifting and subsequent chase and crash at Rite Aid on Dartmouth Street Saturday afternoon.

According to Dartmouth police, Chante Graham, 25, of Fall River was arrested following a short chase and crash after Detective Keith DaCosta saw the store's manager become involved in an encounter with Graham and an unidentified female at approximately 1:40 p.m.

When DaCosta attempted to stop a 2004 Mitsubishi the two were traveling in, the driver reportedly accelerated away from DaCosta. The vehicle then jumped a curb and crashed into the loading dock of the neighboring United States Post Office.

Immediately following the crash, both females allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, DaCosta was able to apprehend Graham, while the other female still remains at large and unidentified.

Police said no one was injured as a result of the crash.

Graham is being charged with: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Motor Vehicle); Larceny Over $250; Failure to Stop for the Police; Operating to Endanger; and Resisting Arrest.
