Opinion: There are lots of questions to be answered on the override

Jan 12, 2024
What are the needs of other town departments besides the school department's? It would be a shame to have a one time override and then discover it was only good for one or two years. The long range capital planning committee needs to weigh in and delineate the long term requirements before the town meeting and referendum take place. The Water and Sewage Treatment Plant are reaching capacity. What is the cost of upgrading that?  Are there areas where fees can be increased? What is the cost of tying in to town water and sewer compared to other towns in Southeastern Massachusetts?

There are lots of questions to be answered and information provided before an intelligent decision can be made.
