Padanaram Harbor is no longer the top harbor in the country.

The harbor was voted the third-best harbor in the nation by readers of the website USharbors.com during an online contest involving more than 1,400 participants.

Last year, the harbor took the top spot in the competition.

Depoe Bay, Oregon was the overall winner, followed by Onset Beach in Wareham.

Voting started online in early May. Participants could send in photos and other information — including tips and favorite businesses — along with their vote.

In the announcement on the contest winners, organizers said Padanaram Harbor offers numerous boating services in addition to excellent restaurants and local shops and a “strong community spirit of the year-round residents and loyal boating community.”

Harbormaster Steve Melo said that last year’s success put Dartmouth “on the chart.”
