Plaques available for buildings and structures over 75
The Dartmouth Historical Society is accepting applications for its Historical Structure Plaque Program, which is meant to commemorate buildings and structures in town that are older than 75.
Buildings and structures over 75 that are considered unique for their age, historical significance, ownership history, and/or style of architecture will be considered eligible for plaques.
Applicants can fill out an application provided by the commission at the Town Clerk's Office, at Southworth Library, or on the town's website. The commission will consider applications at its regularly scheduled meeting on the first Monday of the month. If an application is approved, the applicant can take the signed form to Signature Signs, 634 State Road, North Dartmouth and purchase the plaque directly from the business.
The plaque will show the name of the person for whom the building was built or associated with and the date or approximate date of construction.
