Police: Armed robber stole $87,000 in jewelry at the Dartmouth Mall

A Taunton man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly stealing jewelry in an armed robbery at the Dartmouth Mall on Jan. 28.

Drew A. Beck, 30, of Taunton, was arrested in Lakeville, and faces charges of armed robbery, vandalism, use of a motor vehicle in commission of a felony, and larceny.

According to Dartmouth police: officers responded to the Dartmouth Mall at 8:33 p.m. after an armed robbery was reported at the Jewelry Express kiosk inside the mall. Officers discovered someone had smashed a glass case with a hammer and made off with jewelry valued at more than $87,000.

Witnesses were able to get a description of the alleged suspect and the plate number of the getaway vehicle. Lakeville police arrested Beck after a regional broadcast was put out in search of the vehicle.

Beck’s car was impounded, and the investigation into the armed robbery is ongoing.
