After suffering a heart attack on April 11, the police chief is home to finish recovering.
Chief Bob Szala started experiencing symptoms while at the Russells Mills Road headquarters, before getting himself to the hospital on Tuesday evening, said Deputy Chief Brian Levesque.
The department is currently unsure when Szala will return back to work, but he is in good condition, said Levesque.
Szala was alone at his home when he sought medical treatment on Tuesday, Levesque said.
"It's a life-changing event. I think you have a different perspective after something like that happens," said Levesque.
Levesque added that he is unsure if the Select Board will appoint him to an acting chief position while Szala recovers.
