Police department receives reaccreditation from state assessors
The Dartmouth Police Department has recently received reaccreditation status from the state.
Accreditation is an evaluation process that’s self-initiated and helps police departments meet professional standards of excellence.
The three-day assessment was conducted in early September by Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission Assessors. Assessors looked at various operations within the department, including how the stations handles evidence, communications, vehicles inspections, training records and arrest procedures.
On Nov. 5, Acting Police Chief Robert Szala, Lieutenant Mark Zielinski, and Town Administrator David Cressman were presented with a plaque that will displayed at the police department as proof of the reaccreditation.
The department was first accredited in 2012.
