Police investigate shots fired at Dartmouth restaurant

Police responded possible shots fired at a restaurant in south Dartmouth on Saturday, October 29.

Dartmouth Police arrived at Miller's Homeport, located at 24 Cove Road, at approximately 2 a.m., and recovered shell casings, according to police.

No shooter was located, but at approximately 5 a.m., New Bedford Police responded to the 7-11 on West Rodney French Boulevard regarding a disturbance, said police.

As a result of their investigation, Brendan C. Furtado, 24, of 33 Delmont St., Dartmouth, was charged with disorderly conduct, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm, possessing a firearm without an FID card, and unarmed robbery.

Police said that Furtado's firearm was stolen from a Dartmouth residence in 2009. Police believe Furtado might be connected to the earlier incident. Dartmouth detectives are currently investigating.
