Public’s help sought to identify hate crime suspect

DARTMOUTH __ Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying who might be involved in spraying a derogatory term on a dumpster at the Burgo Basketball Association facility, 101 Slocum Road.

Police responded to the location at about 5 p.m. Saturday, April 15 to gather information associated with what police called a hate crime. No specific information was provided about what term what sprayed onto the trash receptacle.

Police are seeking video footage or any other information that may help them identify a suspect.

“I am extremely discouraged and upset by this egregious and heinous act of vandalism,’’ Police Chief Brian P. Levesque said. “It is certainly the hope of every member of the Dartmouth Police Department that if someone has information that can help us identify a suspect that they will immediately come forward with it.”
