A former exotic dancer with several outstanding arrest warrants stemming from a 2007 incident in Dartmouth, including assault and battery on a police officer, was arrested in the Dominican Republic and extradited to Dartmouth on Friday, May 27, by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Katherine Mercedes Pimental, 35, of Providence, Rhode Island, had allegedly fled to the Dominican Republic. She was wanted on several warrants related to a 2007 Dartmouth incident at the King's Inn Gentlemen's Club on State Road.

On July 27, 2007, Pimental, a waitress and dancer at the club, allegedly assaulted another of the dancers with a beer bottle while the victim was in the bathroom, according to court documents. Pimental allegedly smashed the bottle on the victim's head, cutting her around the eye and mouth. Pimental attempted to stab the victim in the neck, according to court documents, but wound up stabbing her in the arm when the victim raised it to block the blow.

The court documents indicate that Pimental may have been intoxicated at the time of the incident. She was arrested a short time after the attack, according to police.

Pimental was charged with mayhem, assault to maim, assault and battery with dangerous weapon, operating under the influence, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

After being charged and later indicted, Pimental was released on $5,000 bail and continued attending her court dates until Dec. 3, 2009, the day that her trial was set to begin, according to court documents. After failing to show up to court for her trial, a warrant was put out for her arrest.

On May 31, Pimental was arraigned on charges stemming from fleeing the country, and is currently being held without bail.
