Runaway what? Cow escapes on I-195

Apr 26, 2017

What do you call a cow on the interstate? A moooving vehicle.

But authorities weren't laughing as they raced to capture an escaped bovine on I-195 on the morning of April 25.

The cow had escaped from Robinson's Livestock, located at 343 Hixville Road, and made it's way to the highway. Although it is unclear how the cow escaped, authorities had their suspicions.

"A startled cow can be impossible to keep in with traditional agricultural fencing," said Health Director Chris Michaud. "Cows are very, very agile."

The cow was captured around 10:45 a.m., heading westbound near Exit 12, according to State Police.

No human injuries were reported. The cow was euthanized due to an injury, said a State Police spokesman.
