All pet lovers will understand the appeal of bringing a canine companion along to relax on the water on a perfect summer’s day.

And just like in the Jerome K. Jerome classic “Three Men in a Boat (to say nothing of the dog),” Dartmouth resident Bernadette Marcelo brought nine-year-old pup Brady along on a boating adventure one recent evening in Padanaram harbor.

He waited with all the dignity befitting his age on the sun-filled Dias Landing dock, helping his owners put the boat in the water (mostly by staying out of the way.)

“He’s a good dog,” Marcelo said.

Guess you can teach a sea dog new tricks!
