The national-championship caliber music program at Dartmouth’s public schools has gotten a boost of financial support to bolster its continued success.

Recently, the Dartmouth Friends of the Elderly recently met with Director of Music Ian Flint, Dartmouth School Music Association Member Jennifer Jansen, and musicians from the high school band to hand over a $1500 donation to the proud program.

“Parents, grandparents and the community have enjoyed their accomplishments throughout the years,” the Friends of the Elderly said in a statement. “We are very lucky to have such dedicated students and parents who work diligently for their successes.”

The marching band has won six national titles from the U.S. Bands competition since 2016 — 11 titles overall. The band and color guard also took the gold at the 2022 Bands of America competition held at Rutgers University on Oct. 29 — the first year Dartmouth opted to participate.

The school’s indoor percussion group also placed highly at the Percussion and Winds World Championships in Dayton, Ohio last year.
