November is officially Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in Dartmouth. 

Pancreatic cancer awareness advocate and Dartmouth resident Brock Cordeiro spoke before the Select Board at its Oct. 30 meeting about the disease’s rising impact and his late father’s battle with the disease. 

Cordeiro recently coauthored the bill “An Act to reduce incidence and death from pancreatic cancer” with Marc Hymowitz of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network of Massachusetts. The bill would implement the recommendations of the final report of the Special Legislative Commission to Study Pancreatic Cancer. 

The Select Board unanimously voted in favor of the proclamation, and Select Board member Shawn McDonald tasked Assistant Town Administrator Chris Vitale with finding a way to light Town Hall purple on Nov. 16, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.
