Select Board takes first look at Fall Town Meeting articles

The Dartmouth Select Board took its first look at the town’s Fall Town Meeting articles at its Sept. 12 meeting.

Highlights from the articles, as they currently stand, include:

  • A $1.2 million expansion of the Dias Landing Marina 
  • The completion of a “conservation corridor” stretching from the mouth of Slocums River to UMass Dartmouth
  • Playground equipment upgrades at Dartmouth Regional Park and Trails
  • An increase in funding for the town stabilization fund
  • A study to determine the feasibility of a municipal broadband project
  • Security upgrades and window and door replacements at Dartmouth Schools 
  • Upgraded school intercoms and telephone systems 
  • Improvements to elementary school playgrounds
  • Repaving the Dartmouth High parking lots
  • New classroom and cafeteria furniture at Dartmouth Schools 
  • Design for a project that would relocate part of Tucker Road to create a single intersection with Hathaway Road at Route 6
  • Design for the reconstruction of Hawthorn Street
  • Several new town vehicles, including two police administration vehicles, a facilities maintenance van, three DPW dump trucks and a DPW pickup truck
  • A requirement that donation bins placed in Dartmouth be licensed by the town

The Select Board is set to finalize the Town Meeting warrant next week at its meeting on Sept. 17.
