Sheriff, public officials to discuss sanctuary cities at symposium

Panelists including law enforcement and public officials will discuss immigration, sanctuary cities and refugees at the University of Massachusetts Law Immigration Symposium on April 6.

Among those lined up to speak: Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, Somerville Mayor Joseph Curatone, Newton Councilwoman Emily Norton and Sarand Sekhavat, Federal Policy Director of the Massachusetts Immigration and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.

An alumni panel starts at 9 a.m. The Sanctuary City Panel is from 10-11:30 a.m., the Refugee Panel is from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., former congressman Barney Frank will deliver the keynote address from 12:30-1:15 p.m., and UMass Law Review staff will give closing remarks from 1:15-1:30 p.m.

The symposium will be held at the UMass School of Law, 333 Faunce Corner Road, Dartmouth.
