The Dartmouth Education Foundation will host its 11th annual Spelling Bee Wednesday, April 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dartmouth High School Auditorium.

The spelling bee raises funds for the foundation’s teacher grant program.

Teams of three people may register for $300, or generous individuals can sponsor a team for $300 or a flight of teams for $1,000. Sponsored teams may sign up for free.

There will be five rounds referred to as “flights” in keeping with the bee theme, and the winning team from each flight will compete in the final championship flight.

In addition, all audience members and spelling bee participants will receive a chance to win gift certificates and other prizes between spelling rounds.

The final prize drawing before the Championship Flight will be the grand door prize of two tickets to a Boston Bruins game at TD Garden.

To register as a team or a sponsor, download the registration form available under “Fundraisers” on the foundation’s website, dartmoutheducationfoundation.org

All information and payment must be submitted by April 5.

The Spelling Bee is the sole fundraiser for the DEF, which uses the money raised to fund teacher grants for Dartmouth students.

The fund was founded in 2007 by parents and citizens in Dartmouth concerned about the consequences of decreased public funding on the quality of education in the town’s public schools.

Last year, every school in the Dartmouth Public Schools was represented and 13 grants were funded for a total amount of roughly $20,000.
