Spring flushing to begin next month
The Dartmouth Water Department announced that it will will be flushing water mains throughout the town from April 4 to May 27, 2022 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m.
The goal of flushing is to move water through the water mains at a high speed to loosen and remove deposits of iron and manganese that build up inside the pipes.
Flushing disturbs sediment and can result in temporarily discolored water in residents’ homes.
The water department recommends that residents avoid doing laundry and drawing hot water when water appears discolored during this time.
If water appears discolored after 8 p.m., the department recommends letting the water run until it clears.
In the event water pressure does not return to normal after 8 p.m, notify the DWD at (508) 999-0742.
