St. Peter's Episcopal Church offer 'Ashes to Go' on Ash Wednesday
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Dartmouth and St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in New Bedford will commemorate Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10, by offering Ashes to Go.
Ashes to Go will take place outside of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church at 136 Rivet Street (corner of County St.) in New Bedford from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Big Value Outlet at 718 Dartmouth Street in Dartmouth from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Ashes to Go is a chance for local parishes to get outside the walls of the church and to meet people in the midst of their day, and to invite them into an opportunity for prayer. Anyone in the community is welcome to stop by, regardless of current religious affiliation or denomination, to begin the commemoration of the season of Lent by being marked with ashes.
The Episcopal church promotes the inclusion of all people regardless of family or marital situations, sexual orientation, race, creed or gender.
In addition to Ashes to Go, there will also be two Ash Wednesday services. At 12:15 p.m., a brief Liturgy of the Word service will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in New Bedford and at 7 p.m., a service of Holy Eucharist with the Imposition of Ashes will be offered at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street, Dartmouth. Everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to attend.
