Starry night at Bishop Stang Homecoming Dance
Bishop Stang brought the night sky into the auditorium for their Homecoming Dance on Oct. 10. The starry night theme had the room decked out in foil stars, golden tassels and twinkling fairy lights.
The dance on Saturday evening capped off Stang’s Spirit Week, where students enjoyed a reprieve from school uniforms with pajama day, superhero day and patriotic day.
On Friday’s Homecoming football game where Stang defeated Martha’s Vineyard, 13-0, former Stang football coach James Lanagan was honored with the Legacy Award for his commitment to excellence and his contributions to the school.
Less than thirty minutes into the dance, the bleachers were lined with abandoned high heels as the girls freed their feet to have fun on the dance floor. Students were dressed to the nines in semi-formalwear and dazzling dresses.
Five lucky couples, voted by their peers, got to snag the spotlight as the Homecoming royal court. Seniors Will Saunders and Casey Allaire, both from Mattapoisett, had the honor of being Homecoming King and Queen. The couple have been together for two and a half years.
“[We] kind of expected it,” said Allaire. “Everyone said they were going to vote for us.”
Other members of the court included runners-up Mia Rapoza and Marc Zaknoun; Jackie Carrig and Jeffrey Chica; Amelia Demelo and Robert Fernandes; and Emma Couto and Jack Charbonneau.
