Mar 15, 2017

Police are looking for an unshaven, white man who allegedly attacked and attempted to rob the Cumberland Farms on State Road.

Police responded to a reported unarmed robbery at the convenience store, located at the Slocum Road intersection, around 10:20 p.m. on March 14. After investigating, police found that the suspect was not successful, but he is wanted for attempted unarmed robbery and assault.

According to police, the clerk reported that a 5'10" man with a thin build had entered the store to purchase soda. The man wore a gray hoodie pulled tightly around his face and gray sweatpants, according to police reports.

The man told the clerk that he had lost his wallet, and both searched the store for it, police said. Upon returning to the counter without the wallet, the suspect allegedly followed the clerk behind the counter and a brief struggle between the two unfolded, police said.

The clerk was able to physically remove the suspect from the store, at which time the suspect fled west on State Road, police said. The clerk received minor injuries as a result of the altercation, police said.

According to police, the suspect was not found, and no weapon was ever shown. The incident remains under investigation by Dartmouth detectives.
