Take a glimpse into Portuguese immigration

Jun 15, 2022

To celebrate the Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities, Fall River Heritage State Park will host an exhibit created by UMass Dartmouth’s Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives.

The exhibit, “A Glimpse into Portuguese-American Immigration” opened on 9 June and will remain open through July 15.  It is housed in the Park’s Visitor’s Center which is located at 200 Davol Street in the Captain J. Hudner, Jr. Memorial Building and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Parking and the program are free and open to the public.

“Through photographs, rare newspaper articles, and other insightful documents, this exhibit offers a glimpse into the experience of the region’s dominant ethnic community,” said Jim Lopes, the Park’s Visitor Services Supervisor.
