Police are investigating a motorcycle crash in which a teenager sustained minor injuries after crashing the vehicle in two separate incidents in Dartmouth on August 12, according to a police press release.

The first crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday near 897 Smith Neck Road.

According to the release, while Dartmouth Police officers were en route to the scene, the male motorcyclist and his passenger, both teenagers, got back on the bike and left the area.

Officer Ryan Reis saw the motorcycle — a 2020 Suzuki — on the Padanaram Bridge while on his way to the scene, the press release stated.

After trying to stop the motorcycle to check on the welfare of the occupants, Officer Reis observed the female passenger get off at the intersection of Middle and Bridge Streets. The driver continued towards Dartmouth Street.

Police did not pursue the youth. A short time later, Dartmouth police received a call that a motorcycle had crashed at the intersection of Dartmouth Street and Cove Road.

Upon arrival, the release stated, officers identified the motorcycle as the one which had fled from the earlier crash scene on Smith Neck Road.

The seventeen-year-old motorcyclist was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital due to non-life threatening injuries he sustained during the crash.

As a precaution, the seventeen-year-old female passenger was also evaluated by EMS personnel, according to the press release.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending, the release concluded.
