Friday, December 20

Join a work party.

Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will be hosting a work party for volunteers to help clear stone walls, tackle invasive plants, and burn brush at their Helfand Farm office at 318 Chase Road from 9 a.m. to noon.

Coffee, snacks, and tools will be available for all. Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Call DNRT at (508) 991-2289 for more information. 

Saturday, December 21

Discover nature.

Children and families are invited to investigate nature with the Lloyd Center for the Environment by reading thematic books and exploring from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Center’s 430 Potomska Road location in South Dartmouth.

There will be live animal demonstrations, specimens to observe and touch, hikes, activities and crafts to bring nature themes to life for participants.

Appropriate for children ages 2-6, although younger or older siblings are welcome as well. Pre-register online at lloydcenter.org by 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 19. Tour a farm.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Round the Bend Farm will be holding its last Open Farm Day of the year at its farm at 92 Allens Neck Road in South Dartmouth.

Participants of all ages will be able to meet the Round the Bend team and farm animals, purchase local products and produce, and learn about sustainability. Open Farm Days include family-friendly farm tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. as well as workshops for both kids and adults.

Food will also be available for purchase throughout the day, including 100 percent grass-fed burgers, sausage sandwiches and homemade vegan burgers.

Sunday, December 22

Sing along for Christmas.

There will be a free Christmas concert and tea from 3-5 p.m. at the Allen's Neck Friends Meeting House at 739 Horseneck Road. The concert will feature piano, singing, and flute for a Christmas sing-along.
