Friday, July 16

Council on Aging Day at the Beach 

The Council on Aging is hosting its first Day at the Beach from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jones Park, 66 St. John St. Free exercise classes will be held in the morning, followed by a cookout with disc jockey at 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the cookout are $5 and are available at the Dartmouth Council on Aging, 628 Dartmouth St. A shuttle bus will run continuously from the center to the park.

Farmers’ Market offers local produce 

The Dartmouth Farmers’ Market will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 16 on the lawn at St. Mary’s Parish Center, 789 Dartmouth St. 

The market offers locally raised meats and eggs, locally grown produce and flowers and crafted food, handmade goods, crafts and art. Local musicians will perform.

Art exhibit opening

The opening reception for “Reckoning: Uncomfortable Realities from Our Collective Past and Recent Experiences,’’ an exhibition featuring the works of Ron Fortier and Stephen Remick, including their most recent series, Remick’s “Covid Healthcare Workers’’ and Fortier’s “America’s Guernica: Greenwood’’ will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 16 at the Dartmouth Cultural Center, 404 Elm St. The exhibit runs through Aug. 22. 

Saturday, July 17

Can/bottle drive to support dog park 

The Dartmouth Dog Advisory Work Group, popularly known as DDAWG, will hold a can/plastic bottle collection on Saturday, July 17, from 1 to 2 p.m at the Dartmouth Dog Park at 443 Old Fall River Road.Donated cans must be redeemable, cleaned/rinsed, and bagged or boxed. Rain date is Sunday, July 18. There will also be a drive scheduled for Aug. 14 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Lobster roll takeout

The Dartmouth Grange is sponsoring lobster roll takeout from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July    17, at Patrons Hall, 1133 Fisher Road. The event supports the Grange and its service projects. The number of meals is limited so early arrival is encouraged.  The meal costs $15 and includes potato chips and a beverage. Cash or checks will be accepted. Exact change will be appreciated.

Open Farm Day

Round the Bend Farm will host its July open farm day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17 at the farm, 92 Allens Neck Road. The day features family-friendly tours and workshops for children and adults. 

Kids fishing tourney

The Knights of Columbus 31st annual Kids Fishing Tournament will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17 at Mello’s Pond, one mile west of UMass Dartmouth on Old Westport Road. Rain date is Saturday, July 24. The derby is open to children ages 6-16. Bait will be provided but participants are asked to bring their own buckets. 

Tuesday, July 20

Magician entertains

Magician Scott Jameson performs at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 at Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth St. The free performance will be held on the lawn so children attending may want to bring a towel to sit on. Registration is required; to register, visit dartmouth.ma.us/library. 

Wednesday, July 21

CRS Band to perform

The CRS band, which plays a variety of styles, will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 at Apponagansett Park, Gulf Road.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person at the gate, $4 in advance. Children younger than 12 are admitted free. A season pass is available for $30.

Advance ticket sales and season passes are available at the town Parks and Recreation Office.
