Learn what a bobolink is.

Learn about bobolinks — relatives to the blackbird and orioles — during walks held by the Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary each Thursday this month at 8 a.m. Participants will discuss bird conservation and practices, and do some birdwatching. The walks are $10 for Mass Audubon members; 12 for non-members. Register online at massaudobon.org, or call the sanctuary at (508) 636-2437.

Sail into the sunset.

The Lloyd Center’s hosts its first sunset kayak tour of the season, 6-8 p.m. The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Visit lloydcenter.org to register. Other sunset kayak tours are planned for July 20, August 17, and September 11.

Shop and enjoy food.

The Friends of the Elderly will host its annual yard sale fundraiser at the Council on Aging, 628 Dartmouth Street, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Household items, clothing, and jewelry will be up for sale. The COA’s kitchen will also be open and serving Portuguese cuisine, including malassadas and kale soup.

Get schooled in osprey.

Mass Audubon’s Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting an all-day osprey field school at its 1280 Horseneck Road property, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The session, suited for those 18 and older, focuses on migratory osprey and factors that influence their success. Activities include live nest investigations, lectures, nest platform building classes, and searches for osprey on the property. The cost is $220 for Mass Audubon members and $265 for non-members.
