Wake up with the birds.
The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust and the Paskamansett Bird Club will host a bird walk through Wernick Farm at 8 a.m. at the North Albro Avenue property. The walk will be guided by Land Manager Linda Vanderveer and William Gil from the bird club. For more information, call (508) 991-2289 or visit dnrt.org.
Shop to support dogs.
Dartmouth Dog Advisory Work Group will host a yard sale fundraiser in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 783 Dartmouth Street, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The sale will support the group’s temporary dog park, open now at the Dartmouth Regional Parks and Trails facility, and a planned permanent regional park. Items for sale will include collectibles, furniture, jewelry, household items, and books.
Get down and dirty.
The Dartmouth YMCA will host its annual mud run starting at 10 a.m. at its 276 Gulf Road location. The event, open to kids and adults five or older, will include a run through a 1/3-mile course through the YMCA’s community farm with mud pits, obstacles, swings, and challenges. The cost is $15 for kids, $20 for adults, and $50 for families. Call (508) 993-3361 to preregister. Registration will also be open on the day of the event.
Get up close with nature.
The Lloyd Center’s second annual Animal Encounters program will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the center’s 430 Potomska Road location. The event will include animal meet and greets, trail walks, scavenger hunts, and activities for all age levels. The event is free for Lloyd Center members and a $5 suggested donation for non-members. Pig out.
The Paskamansett Engine Company — a nonprofit association comprised of current and former members of Fire District No. 3 — will hold its 12th annual pig roast at the district's 140 Cross Road headquarters at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person. Dine for a cause.
The Dartmouth High School Alumni Association will hold its monthly dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 628 Dartmouth Street. The menu will include spaghetti with homemade meatballs, salad, garlic bread, homemade desserts, and beverages. The cost is $10 per person.

Pray for hope and healing.
The Bridge: A Center for Hope and Healing will host a Service of Hope and Healing at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street.
The service is intended to help those in the community who are struggling with addiction or those whose loved ones are struggling.
Prepare for the future.
The New England Association for College Admission Counseling will host a college fair at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 12-2 p.m. The event will be in the university's Tripp Athletic Center. Representatives from more than 200 schools and college will be on site to answer questions and provide information for prospective students. Morning tours of the university will also be held. Tour a cemetery.
The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society will be leading a tour of Great Rock Cemetery, located in Russells Mills Village, on September 24 at 2 p.m. A question and answers session will follow the tour, and refreshments will be served. Meet at the society’s headquarters building at 1205 Russells Mills Road. There is a $5 suggested donation to attend.
