Thursday, Aug. 4

Cookout with the DNRT

The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will hold a cookout at its Helfand Farm Center located at 318 Chase Road on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The cookouts will feature: BBQ — with vegetarian options — from local caterers, beer, wine and cocktails, lawn games, and live music from Putnam Murdoch.

Friday, Aug. 5

Cultural Center expo opening

On Friday, Aug. 5, the Dartmouth Cultural Center will hold an opening reception for its August exhibit titled “Abstract Acrylics.”

The reception will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and the exhibit will be on display for the rest of the month.

The Cultural Center is located at 404 Elm St. and the gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Farmers’ Market offers local produce

The Dartmouth Farmers’ Market will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 on the lawn at St. Mary’s Parish Center, 789 Dartmouth St. 

The market offers locally raised meats and eggs, locally grown produce and flowers and crafted food, handmade goods, crafts and art. Local musicians will perform.

Tour artist studios

The annual Art Drive Open Studio Tour will return to town Aug. 5 though 7.

The Art drive showcases professional works created by some of the area’s premier painters, ceramic artists, photographers, jewelers, fiber artists, woodworkers, and metal artists. 

This event, free and open to the public, is intended to be an opportunity to visit working artists in their unusual and dramatic studio settings, spotted among the area’s villages, farm land and sea coast.

The tours feature 27 artists, with 16 in Dartmouth.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

Listen to the community band

The Dartmouth Community band will perform at Apponagansett Park from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Shows are free to the public.

Wednesday, Aug. 10

Council on Aging jazz concert

On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m., see Lisa Soares and the Jazz Duo perform a free concert at the Maria Connor Center for Active Living. Call ahead at 508-999-4717 to preregister, and bring a chair.
